Sunday June 15 Picks

Race 1

#4 NEWS FLSASH is a very promising young horse for top connections who should break through today. #3 NAT GREW is a perfectly logical favorite off two close seconds in two tries over hurdles. #5 SEER was terrible in his first try over fences but trainer Jack Fisher and jockey Xavier Aizpuru seem to win everything at Colonial and he’ll be a huge price.

Suggested bet: Win - 4

Race 2

#6 FINAL AUTHORITY is legitimate 9-5 favorite after some solid tries against tougher competition. #5 QUOIT FRIENDLY showed some speed going longer last fall and should appreciate the cutback in distance and claiming price today. #8 IRISH GUY’s two turf tries would put him right on the wire today if he’s ready to fire off the layoff.

Suggested bet: pick-3 - 6 w/ 1,2,9 w/ 4,6

Race 3

#1 MARK THE SHARK also runs well at Colonial, over fences or on the flat and he appears to be in top form off a dominating starter allowance win last time. #2 FREE ADMISSION was in a lot of trouble last time and has the back class to win this today for top connections. #9 QUEM SE ATREVE was much improved last out and may be back to his best.

Suggested bet: Trifecta box 1,2,9

Race 4

#1 CREOLE BEAT had all kinds of trouble in his turf debut. He’s bred for it and his dirt form would be very tough to beat here. #5 SWAYIN was a disappointing fifth opening night and hasn’t run well since October but a rebound is certainly possible today.

Suggested bet: Pick-4 – 1,5 w/ 3,4 w/ 2,6 w/ 5,7

Race 5

#4 MISS MAISY is bred for the turf and has the speed to relish this 5 furlong dash at decent price. #3 VALIN TIME ran well despite some mild trouble in a similar spot last time out and certainly be no surprise. #5 ICY ONE O FOUR has a troubling history of settling for second and two of his worst races have come at Colonial.

Suggested bet: Trifecta – 3,4 w/ 3,4,5 w/ 3,4,5

Race 6

#2 MEDIMAN wasn’t embarrassed against much tougher last time. VA-bred was likely claimed two back with exactly this kind of spot in mind. #6 BOBBILINKAPOO won an allowance race two back and is reunited with Luis Garcia today. #1 BRASSY BOOTS would be no surprise off a strong 2007 NY campaign but may need a race after a long layoff. #7 DANCIN ‘N GROOVIN has never been off the board at Colonial. She looks like a great “under” play in the tris and supers.

Suggested bet: Trifecta – 2,6 w/ 1,2,6 w/ 1,2,6,7

Race 7

#7 GATORNATION ran well for twice this claiming price last out, almost won this condition at Colonial last summer and appears perfectly spotted to break through today. #5 BRED TO WIN in an improving 3-year-old with competitive speed figures and better post position today. #11 SEND OFF FLYING has consistently run well enough to crack the tri, if not well enough to win this

Suggested bet: Pick-3 – 5,7 w/ 2 w/ 2,3

Race 8

#2 GHOST DANCING has been a terror on dirt but the Silver Ghost filly is bred top and bottom to relish the turf, which is tough to ignore even at 7-5. #3 CITI CHARISSE broke her maiden impressively at Pimlico and isn’t a terrible longshot stab in her turf debut.

Suggested bet: Exacta box 2,3

Race 9

#3 SATIN BLUE finally gets the turf she was bred for and will be double digit odds. #2 CARREAU ACCOUNT is the only horse in the race with any turf form but its tough to take a 7yo maiden on top.

Suggested bet: Win - 3
