Wednesday June 11 picks

Race 1

#2 GOT THE SPIRIT is a perfectly logical favorite who should sit a great trip stalking the speed but he did weaken late the last time he went this far. He’s the most likely winner but will likely be overbet. #8 OPEN ROAD is bred to appreciate the switch to turf. #6 TABLE BAY gets a steep drop in class and certainly fits this level well but it’s hard to put a 7yo maiden on top.

Suggested bet: 10 cent super - 2,8 w/ 2,6,8 w/ 1,2,6,7,8 w/ 1,2,6,7,8

Race 2

#2 JUST YOU AND I KID relished the switch to turf last out and should appreciate the extra distance today. #7 VICARIOUS FLIGHT closed a little against much tougher last time and should really move forward in just his third start. #1 ROSEVILLE RUN was hampered by a very slow pace last time and should get a much better setup today.

Suggested bet: pick-3 - 1,2,3,7 w/ 4,5 w/ 1

Race 3

#5 MYSTIQUE MOON is 4-5 in the money on the Colonial turf and should benefit from the expected soft pace. #4 CLASSY EMBLEM will be closing fastest off all but she’s largely hampered by the lack of a true speedball in this race. #6 GOT OFF EASY has the best current form of the field but tries turf for the first time today.

Suggested bet: exacta box - 5 w/ 4,6

Race 4

#1 BLINK AND DANCE has by far the best current form and figures to work out a nice ground saving trip from post 1. #5 READY SMILE made a big move on the turn last out, drops 23 pounds from that amateur race and still has some upside in his third lifetime start. #8 MAYBE YES MAYBE NO ran several races that would win this last season but has struggled mightily in 2008.

Suggested bet: Pick-4 – 1 w/ 1,3 w/ 8 w/ 1,8 w/ 4

Race 5

#5 TREASURE MAP comes off a layoff but has run well in similar situations before. He was good enough as a 3-year-old to win this race and could easily be even better as a more mature 4-year-old. #1 MOUNT WEATHER should win this with his best race but he hasn’t run since January. #4 PAL’s PRIDE has been sharp over fences and was solid on the flat when he last tried.

Suggested bet: Trifecta key – 5 w/ 1,3,4

Race 6

#8 JULIA TUTTLE has a massive speed figure edge, the pedigree to relish the added distance today, sharp current form and top connections. The only downside is the price. #1 PARK VIEW could literally be anything off one dull race against much tougher last summer at Del Mar. Neither first nor last should be a surprise for her. #2 SOCIAL REGISTER fits well if she runs back to her debut.

Suggested bet: Exacta Box – 1,8

Race 7

#4 SOUTHWEST is 2-5 on the morning line for good reason. He’s been facing drastically tougher competition at Santa Anita and has been working wonderfully for new trainer Rodney Jenkins. #1 MORE FASCINATION ran well enough to win this two years ago but a steeplechase detour the last two years may have dulled his flat form.

Suggested bet: Pick-3 – 4 w/ 2,6 w/ 3

Race 8

#6 ROLLS ROSS should roll at a depressingly short price. He has a massive speed figure edge, is perfect at the tricky 7 furlong distance and gets a big drop in class. #2 BLUE GULF can be competitive on his best day.

Suggested bet: Trifecta 6 w/ 2 w/ ALL

Race 9

#3 INVISIBLE JAZZ is easily the most likely winner of the day. His 25-point speed figure edge should ensure a chalky late double for trainer Michael Pino and owner David Ross. #4 PUTIN is by a good first-out sire and should be the value stab at 20-1 on the morning line.

Suggested bet: Exacta box – 3,4
