Friday June 13 picks

Race 1

#3 COUNTBACKWARDS ran very well here as a 2yo last summer against tougher horses and goes second off the layoff today after a useful prep 12 days ago. #2 I AM THE QUEEN is a perfectly logical favorite who will win this with her best race but she’s coming off a three-month layoff and won’t get much pace to run at. #5 CHAMPAGNE LAKE picks a good spot for her debut.

Race 2

#4 MAXINE AHEAD was a decent second at this level last time out and may appreciate a return to turf today. #5 BLACK TIE GIRL appears to have improved around two-turns and the switch to turf today could be the catalyst for more improvement. #3 M.C.’S BOUQUET ran well enough to win this both turf tries and adds Lasix today.

Suggested bet: pick-3 - 3,4,5 w/ 2 w/ 4,6

Race 3

#2 CHIEF COMMANDER projects to a gorgeous closing trip behind dueling leaders and thus rates an edge over three similarly talented rivals. #4 MAN MADE fits well at this level and will also be closing well. #1 WARRIORINTHESKY and #3 SMOOTH TANGO can both win at this level but both do their best running on the front end and may compromise each other today.

Suggested bet: Trifecta - 2 w/ 1,3,4 w/ ALL

Race 4

#4 SEVEN TWO OFFSUIT looks a whole lot more like aces in this spot, carrying a 15+ point Beyer edge into the race. She should win easily unless the 3^rd race in 20 days proves too much. #6 ESTRELLA VICTORIA showed late life in her debut and may improve with better start today.

Suggested bet: Pick-4 – 4 w/ 4 w/ 3,6,7,8,9,10 w/ 4,5,8

Race 5

#4 LUNAR’S LULLABY finally gets back on turf after some fairly ugly dirt tries. Lunar’s Lullaby is much better on the lawn and may improve even further in her second start for 29% trainer Ben Feliciano. #7 INCLUDE THE LADY gets a class drop and tries turf for the first time today for very dangerous connections. #1 SWANNANOA ran well both times she tried turf and fits at this level.

Suggested bet: Trifecta – 4 w/ 7 w/ 1,6

Race 6

Here’s the race you really need to spread in the pick-4. #3 JIGALONG, #7 Rue d’Argent and #9 Blondeshavemorerun are all similarly talented and demand inclusion. #8 CALCUTTA CLIPPER has been working brilliantly for new trainer Michael Trombetta and has the pedigree to relish the switch to turf. #6 UNCLE SERAZZO suffered a brutal trip in his lone turf race and could easily improve with a cleaner trip today. #10 LAKE ISLE is a well-bred, expensive firster.

Suggested bet: 10 cent super box 3,6,7,8,9

Race 7

#4 STORMING VOW overcame a wide post to run a solid fourth last out and should improve greatly today with a better draw in the his seasonal start. #5 C STREET is a well-bred first timer with excellent works for an excellent debut trainer. #8 CHANCELLERY has the best last-out speed figure but did cough up a clear led despite relaxing on a slow pace.

Suggested bet: Pick-3 – 4,5,8 w/ 1,4 w/ 2,7

Race 8

#1 RAMAZUTTI won a Grade II stakes just last year and while he’s lost a step he’s still plenty good enough to win this. #4 GIZMO MAN is an improving, lightly raced colt who should be a square price. #3 VICTORY SIGN closed well last time and can certainly win on his best day.

Suggested bet: Exacta box 4 w/ 1,2,3,5

Race 9

#2 EASY MOVER is very well placed first timer starter for dangerous connections. #7 SAFE JOURNEY disappointed last time but his previous races tower above the other experienced runners.
