Sunday September 14 picks

Race 1
#3 JUSTABUD just missed in a similar race last year at Colonial and is awfully consistent over hurdles. #10 CUSE has been freshened after a pair of disappoint outings this summer and gets the big drop to maiden claiming company today. #1 SAND BOX RULES and #1A OLE BOY both deserve another chance over fences after some solid flat tries this summer.

Race 2
#6 LUVYABUTLEAVE has won two straight races in impressive enough fashion to believe that a third straight is in the cards. #3 ROMPAWAY ALVIN has also won two in a row and clearly fits nicely here. #1A EMMA’SROWDY KNIGHT leads an intriguing three-horse entry.
Suggested bet: Pick-3 – 1,3,6 w/ 5,9 w/ 7

Race 3

#5 SUSSEX COUNTY likes Colonial and has fits very well at this level. #9 GIGGER is probably the best horse in the race but he’s never as well here as he has elsewhere. #8 SIR ELTON looked very promising when last seen in 2006. The layoff is a big concern but the talent is there.
Suggested bet: Exacta box – 5 w/ 1,8,9

Race 4
#7 SEADOG MAN appears to be a touch faster than any of today’s rivals and is awfully consistent. #3 LEADMETOTHETRUTH held on relatively well after setting a blistering pace from a bad post last time. #1 FOB WATCH N was 4-5 last time and will be a nice price today.
Suggested bet: Win - 7

Race 5
#4 HOMELAND HERO has hit the board is six of seven starts this season and appears to have come back from a summer vacation in fine form. #5 HARD HEAD fits the condition beautifully and is obviously at the top of his game right now. #2 HI IM JOHNNY KASH fits well if he’s ready to fire after a long layoff.
Suggested bet: Exacta box – 2,4,5

Race 6
#3 IMPRESSIVE JILL was a good second in a $100,000 race last out and was certainly impressive last fall with a 1:56.3 mile as a 2yo here. #1A LITTLE STAR BECCA has done little wrong in her nascent career. #4 TWO B AMERICAN will be very tough with a repeat of his last race.

Race 7
#4 TATTLER’S JET continues to be an ageless wonder at age 10 with 14 more wins this season. He paced a 1:50.2 mile here last fall and appears be at least as good this season. #7 RACE ME VALERIE has been consistently competitive against open company this season. #3 EPES is clearly fast enough to be one of a number of legitimate contenders in here.
Suggested bet: Exacta box – 3,4,7

Race 8
#1A G-STRING JENNA is significantly faster than any of today’s rivals when he’s right. #4 BINGO BINGO fits well off his recent Rockingham form. #5 C M ARTHUR has been more consistent than most of these all year and figures to sit a nice trip from Colonial’s best post position.
Suggested bet: Exacta box – 1 w/ 4,5

Race 9
#3 ELECTRIC CHICKEN made a big impression early in his two-year-old season at Colonial Downs and appears to be rounding back into that good from with a nice qualifier earlier this month. #1A EXTREME MAKEOVER leads a typically strong three-horse entry from the powerful Manley Brown, Jr. barn.
Suggested bet: Exacta box – 1,3

Race 10
#6 MC MATZ’S ZTAM gets substantial class relief today and is always good on a big track. #8 JUST BELIEVE IN ME put up several good races here last fall and appears to be in similar form coming into today. #9 COBBLER HANOVER earned $70,000 last season and is starting to show some signs of life after a terrible start to his 2008 campaign.
